DMARCwise notifies you about relevant events detected on your domains, like a DMARC record that has been set up correctly or a new DKIM selector found in the DMARC reports.

Notifications are shown in the notification center of the dashboard and can also be sent by email. The organization decides which notifications are generated, while each user decides which ones they receive by email.

The notification center is not an activity log: it only lists a curated set of events that you may want to know about.

Notification types

The following types of notifications are available.

NotificationWhen it’s generated
DMARC configuration validatedThe DMARC record of a domain has been set up correctly to send reports to DMARCwise.
TLSRPT configuration validatedThe TLSRPT record of a domain has been set up correctly to send reports to DMARCwise.
Hosted MTA-STS MX records changedA change in the MX records of a domain with hosted MTA-STS was detected and its policy was updated.
New DKIM selector discoveredA new DKIM selector was found in the DMARC reports of a domain or one of its subdomains.

Which types are enabled and who receives them by email by default is shown in the dashboard, under Settings → Notifications.

Some emails, like billing reminders or warnings about hosted services that need attention, are not part of the notification center and are always sent. See System notifications for the full list.

Notification center

To see the notifications of your organization, navigate to the Notifications tab of the dashboard.

From there, you can browse the latest events on your domains and check your email preferences and the organization settings in the sidebar.

Organization settings

Owners and admins can choose which types of notifications are generated for the organization:

  • Navigate to Settings → Notifications.
  • Use the switch next to each notification type to enable or disable it.
  • Click Reset to default to restore the default setting.

Each notification type also shows which roles receive it by email by default.

When a notification type is disabled, no notifications of that type are generated: they don’t appear in the notification center and no emails are sent, regardless of the users’ email preferences.

Permissions

  • Only owners and admins can change the organization notification settings.

Email preferences

Each user chooses which of the enabled notifications they receive by email. By default, this depends on the user’s role in the organization.

To change your email preferences:

  • Open the user menu in the top right corner of the dashboard and choose Account settings.
  • Navigate to Notifications.
  • Use the switch next to each notification type to subscribe or unsubscribe.
  • Click Reset to default to go back to the default for your role.

As long as you keep the default preference, your subscription follows your current role: for example, if you’re promoted to admin, you’ll start receiving the notifications that admins receive by default.

Notification types disabled for the organization are marked with a Disabled for organization label. Your preference is kept and applies again once the type is enabled.

Notification emails

Notification emails are grouped by type: when the same event is detected on several domains at around the same time, you’ll receive a single email covering all of them, instead of one email per domain.

Each email includes a link to your email preferences, so you can quickly change which notifications you receive.

Users who haven’t completed their account setup yet don’t receive notification emails.
